Patricia A Bonn

Patricia A Bonn is an author, historian, and playwright whose fiction and non-fiction works are set in the American West and Southwest. She is an alumna of Arizona State University with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History. Her writing community is the Desert Sleuths chapter of Sisters in Crime which has provided a safe haven for an aspiring writer of crime fiction. Patricia’s fiction balances murder and mayhem with a quirky sense of humor.

In juxtaposition, her academic focus is social justice in the American West and Southwest with scholarly presentations of conference papers or articles.  Patricia has worked as a researcher for essays and book chapters on the topics of Latina -o civil rights, education, and unvalued contributions of Spanish-speaking in regional history.

Patricia was awarded Second place, Arizona Authors Association 2007 Literary Contest in the Short Story category for Chorizo Con Papas Wrapped in a Dream.  Her original play Joaquín: The Life and Times of Joaquín Murrieta was produced at Kerr Cultural Center, Scottsdale, October 2003.  New Carpa Theater Co. included her ten-minute short play, Dancing on Air, in the “Performing Justice” festival performances in Phoenix and Tucson, July 2012.

The Story Behind the Passion Patricia A. Bonn Military themes and characters often populate Particia’s fiction. She is the proud granddaughter of a World War I veteran, daughter of a World War II veteran, sister of Vietnam Era Conflict active-duty Navy sailor, and wife of Vietnam Era Conflict Air Force veteran. She is currently a volunteer with Operation Paperback, which has provided over a million books since 1999 to troops overseas and to veterans here at home.

Patricia, a native of San José, California, resides in Tempe, Arizona with children and grandchildren nearby.
